Hotels catering to business travelers are found near the downtown Loop --
so named because almost all lines of the city's "L" system converge here and
circulate around the city center. Because Chicago is a tremendously popular
convention destination, Loop hotels are accustomed to handling business
travelers en masse. If you're in town for a large convention, however, don't
expect to book a room on a few days notice. During peak season, even the
largest hotels fill up fast.
If you're in town for just one night and need to catch an early-morning
flight, or if you're attending an event at the Rosemont Convention Center,
you may want to stay near O'Hare International Airport. The Rosemont Suites
(5500 North River Road) are particularly convenient for convention-goers.
If you'll be conducting business in the Loop, however, you're better off
staying in the city. It can take as long as 50 minutes to reach the Loop
from O'Hare on the "L," and rush hour traffic is agonizing -- even from the
backseat of a cab.
